The Yorkshire Moors & Coast Tourism Partnership rewarded the hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence of the region's many tourism businesses at their third annual awards ceremony held at the Scarborough Spa last night (25th November 2009). The Awards are the region's most prestigious in hospitality and tourism and include a range of categories for accommodation, attractions, eating places and retail businesses.
More than 200 businesses within the Yorkshire Moors & Coast Tourism Partnership area were nominated by the public over the summer. Over 80 of them were then shortlisted across the 20 categories and the winners were announced last night.
Clive Rowe-Evans, Chair of the Yorkshire Moors & Coast Tourism Partnership, said: "I want to offer my congratulations to all of this year's winners. The calibre of the nominees was exceptionally high this year making the categories very difficult to judge. The awards ceremony was thoroughly enjoyable and a good time was had by all - it really was the perfect way to congratulate the people that make up the local tourism industry on an excellent year's work."
Aviva Pearson, Chief Executive of the Yorkshire Moors & Coast Tourism Partnership, said "I am delighted that these awards have highlighted not only the high quality of business we have in our region, but also the success we have in working in partnership together. This is a strength which can only benefit our businesses and something that we hope to build on in the future. Congratulations to everyone who's been nominated for an award."
