Ryedale Grand Prix 2009

Duncombe Park, Helmsley, North Yorkshire is again the home Ryedale Grand Prix on Sunday 7th June 2009, an event that forms part of the British Cycling's Premier Calendar Road Series.

The programme for 2009 includes a full range of support events to be based in Duncombe Park. These will feature the Ryedale Summer Cyclo-Cross events; promoted by the Yorkshire Cyclo-Cross Association. A new event, the North Yorkshire Schools Youth Mountain Bike Championships will also take place.

The Grand Prix will use the now traditional course with Hovingham forming the hub of two rolling circuits, 181 km in all. Great countryside is on hand for spectators, together with genuine hospitality in this picturesque part of Yorkshire.

The area was formerly home to Peter Longbottom, Olympic Cyclist who was tragically killed some years ago, a few miles down the road on the A64 Malton Bypass. The event has been held annually since his death by VC York and for the last five years this has been part of a partnership with the Events Group of British Cycling Yorkshire, along side other York based clubs. This has seen the race move up to Premier Calendar status and in 2005 and 2008 it was held as the National Championships.

A magnificent venue such as Duncombe Park provides tremendous opportunities to showcase the very best of British Cycling.
